Maple Thanksgiving 2009

Although cold and miserable, the few who endured maple at thanksgiving this year got to once again participate in a family celebration of another kind.

Gotta give a big shout out to timescapes and their vault of knowledge for a forum. I've learned so much and solved so many problems over the past couple years by reading these pages and asking a few questions. Here's a few demo reels from timescapes' big cheese. Respect.

I know that was alot but here's some more, Dustin Dollin Raw & Uncut.

Chris Cole Mini Board.

El Toro In a Shopping Cart

Fuck BATB2, there hasn't been one decent game of SKATE yet, and some of the better skaters have already been wiped out by jacked games. So here's a game of skate not to forget down a 7.

New. Maple. Hype.

I claimed, and delivered. Here's a little promo.

P.S. - If you can guess the name of the video by figuring out the cryptic ending. Send me your one and only guess via facebook (http://www.facebook.com/alex.kingsmill). Winners will recieve a free DVD when it's finito.

And as usual, here are a few more gems of the interweb.

Makato Nagano, ninja warrior, man tank...

While we're still on the topic of Ninjas...

Boy oh boy oh boy, I've been doing a lot of scheming lately. I started working on a little project for the end of this fine skate season, so really I haven't put too much of substance on here lately. For the past couple weeks though, in my lack of a real job, I lurked around Burlington and Haliburton filming anything that seemed like a good idea. I also finished filming a short I started back in May when I flew to BC, so I'll be posting that soon as well. I'm rambling now because I'm tired as fuck, but here's a fine few additions for your viewing pleasure.

Here is a short glimpse of some raw footage (and by raw I mean I didn't color correct anything fo' yo ass yet, shits just a tease for now) from the past 2 weeks.

Second off, we've got a short film by a dude of the name Robin King. Thoroughly cool.

Ten Thousand Pictures of You from Robin King on Vimeo.

Third up, here's a sick installation out of a Toronto production company. The vimeo page lets you download the source file as well, so you can run a loop yourself and watch it for hours.

Civilization by Marco Brambilla from CRUSH on Vimeo.

And last but obviously not least...My good friend Craig stumbled upon this gem of independent cinema the other week. WATCH THIS SHIT WHILE YOU STILL CAN, I can't find a download anywhere yet and it would be a shame to go on living without watching it. This is for everyone that wished the new Batman movies were gnarlier...

Howdy, I've been working on a video for awhile now, but it's just not finishing itself like I thought it would. So here's a week's worth of cool videos I didn't make.

BIG WORLD, little ass people.

Bathtub V from Keith Loutit on Vimeo.

Some crazy innovative stop motion...there's a section so you can see how hard this must have been in the credits...

Sorry I'm Late from Tomas Mankovsky on Vimeo.

Face paint stop motion...Kinda pissed this is so good because I tried this myself not even 2 weeks ago, and already I find out I'm even less original than I assumed.

Some Staple Cinema...made by a furniture designer or something along those lines. My memory fails me.

More Staple Cinema...Claude Lelouch killing it in Paris.

Here's a bomb music video from god knows where, but I dig the song and the animation alike.

STEREO RAKETA (minimix) from StereoNoize on Vimeo.

I bought a sick DVD last year of just music videos and this one is the first one on it. Weird as fuck but it's super fucking convincing at times.

And last and least, I want this videogame.

Hella Late.

I've been workin like a dog lately so I'm throwing together a retrospective for here soon. In the meantime I do have some goodies though.

Dayvan Cowboy Music Video
I used this song in Feed Your Head back in the day, but this video tops me without a doubt. The skydiving footage up in space is the world record skydive altitude 103,000 meters. The gnarbag's name is Joe Kittinger and he's worth a little research.

& Some Badass 3D

I missed yesterday due to being inebriated in St. Catharines, and today I only have a little timelapse I shot back last summer. Which also means I'm gonna post two videos tomorrow to make up.

Friday, May 22, 2009

Happy Birthday Kevin.

YouTube fucked with this video hard, I uploaded in HD and got worthless shit out of it. I Don't use YouTube very often but I think this may be the last.

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Today I had a shitty day at work, confronted my boss, and basically quit. I TL'd my drive home and it's processing on YouTube right now.

Here are the only other two video's I have on YouTube.

Random TL's I from Alex Kingsmill on Vimeo.

Today I rolled down to the lift bridge to see if I could snag a TL of some tanker coming in from Quebec. Unfortunately the ship wasn't near on time so I got bored and filmed some other goodness I can incorporate next time a ship actually does come in. So to tide you over here's some random timelapse from all over.

And So It Begins...

Vancouver & Whistler from Alex Kingsmill on Vimeo.

First post and I feel like I'm crossing some bullshit line into the netherworld. I never thought I'd write a blog, but I feel that if I turn it into some sort of mission it could have more relevance in my life and work. So now I boast one video for each day of the summer, and who knows maybe beyond, of no specific subject matter or content, just wherever the wind blows me.

To start, here's some obscure compilation of some imagery filmed in BC two weeks ago while I was working.
